Could You Really Grab A Bargain Airport Parking Space At Newcastle Airport?

According to a recent report in the Express newspaper, you could indeed. The unlikely sounding competition took place back in July, and focused on seven sites owned by the airport parking company Airparks.

Airparks is a very well known parking company to many people who head off on holiday and leave their car behind at the airport before they go. One of their seven sites is at Newcastle Airport – and one lucky winner will by now have got their bargain airport parking at this very site.

The idea was thought up by Airparks and they auctioned off a space at each of seven separate car parks in July. This was done via the eBay website, and the price of each space was just one penny to start. Of course this was an auction so the price would eventually have gone up. But the idea was to give people a chance to grab a parking space for eight days of parking at a cheaper price than they would have paid otherwise.

Of course Airparks would have received a nice amount of publicity for this event too. But since several drivers would have received a parking space for a reasonable price, it was worth having a bid to see whether you could be the lucky winner.

The most interesting thing about this event was the unusual way in which Airparks was drawing attention towards its business and the parking services it provides at Newcastle Airport and other venues. We would be interested to see whether this happens again in the future with this company, or whether other companies see the attention it has had and try something similar themselves.

The terms of the bid were that the parking space should be booked and used before the end of this year. The competition is over now but it is worth keeping an eye out for future ideas and competitions of the same ilk in the future, so you can think about whether to take part in any others that might pop up.

Obviously the main thing to be aware of is whether you have any need for parking at Newcastle Airport or any of the others before you make a bid. If you know you have a trip planned that is coming up, it would be worth considering it. Otherwise it would be best left to someone else to win.
